Michelin’s racing rain tire tread pattern evacuates water while maintaining a large contact patch.

In 1992, Michelin introduced silica-based rubber compounds in our racing rain tires. Since then, Michelin rain tires have been unbeatable around the world of motorcycle racing. By replacing the carbon black found in nearly all tread compounds with silica, we found not only significant improvement in wet-weather grip, but in durability as well. Also, because of its tread-life extending properties, Silicium allows the use of an aggressive rubber mix without compromising durability.
